The national government has been called upon to employ more teachers in Kisumu West constituency as a way of improving academic performance in the area.
Ogolla Oketch a political aspirant for the Member of Parliament in the area has said that, many students potential is not realized because of inadequate teachers and it was time to do something in order for a bright future to be guaranteed.
“We have many bright children in this area, but we lack people who can guide them in realizing their potential. Teachers are a vital thing in ensuring their full potential is realized. The ratio of teachers to students is absurd,” said Oketch.
He said that, the government should set aside adequate funds to employ many trained teachers who are on unemployed at the moment.
“The most annoying thing is that, we have teachers around, but the government has not employed. If we really want a good future for our nation then let the government employ teachers to nature this young children,” said Oketch.
He said that education of children should be treated with seriousness it deserves, and it should begin with allocation of adequate funds to facilitate the sector.
Oketch was speaking at Korando Primary school in Kisumu West constituency on Thursday evening when he donated text books to the school.
