The government has been asked to act with speed and resolve the ongoing teachers strike that has paralysed learning in public primary and secondary schools across the country.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, a Kiambu Town based Public Finance expert Samuel Warugongo said it is disheartening to see children lose precious time at home as both the teachers' unions and the government continue to tighten their stands.
Muturi said the government has several options at its disposal which it can use to at least soften the teachers' stand.
"Third term is a very critical time in the education calender. We have candidates who are set to sit for national exams from as early as next month,” said Warugongo.
"When the government is silent about such a critical matter or issue threats, it just dampens the spirits of learners and their parents. Government cannot entirely lack money unless it is bankrupt,” he added.
He also called on the teachers' unions to accept dialogue with the government to resolve the stand-off.
"Knut and Kuppet must come to the table and tackle the bull by its horns. Street protests will not solve anything,” he said.
