The government has outlawed a show on Disney channel from Kenyan screens as a result of its introduction of 13-year-old Cyrus Goodman, a gay character for its second season.
The Disney Channel recently after it introduced a gay storyline to its popular show, Andi Mack, for its second season with Goodman confessing to his friends that he was hitting on a Jonah Beck.
Kenya Film Classification Board CEO Ezekiel Mutua announced the decision on Tuesday through his Facebook page terming it as an apologetic move seeking to protect Kenyan children from wrong content.
“When it comes to protecting children from exposure to bad content we are resolute and unapologetic. Gay content will not air in Kenya, period,” said Mutua.
Multichoice Kenya has made steps to compliance after they released a statement indicating that they had contacted its channel provider, Disney, and confirmed that the show was not scheduled to air on DStv and GOtv following the ban.
