All religious leaders planning to host public crusades and overnight prayers (Keshas) in Kikuyu sub county, Kiambu County must henceforth obtain permit from the police.
The area’s Deputy County Commissioner, Mr Elias Kithaura said the move has been necessitated by recent terrorist attacks in the country, especially in public gatherings, some churches inclusive.
“We are not going to leave anything to chance as far as security matters is concerned,” the assistant commissioner stressed.
Addressing a public Baraza in Kikuyu town yesterday, Kithaura said church meetings must take place between 6am and 6pm and any meeting scheduled outside this time bracket must have police presence for security purposes.
He called on the area chiefs and their assistant to ensure that the Nyumba Kumi initiative is fully implemented to boost security within the homesteads and the fast growing Kikuyu town.
She advised residents to take charge of security at personal level saying security officers cannot be everywhere.
