The government has dared Al-Shabaab fighters to use the routes they used in last week's attack on a residential plot, saying it has beefed up security surveillance and that it was ready to deal with them ruthlessly.
According to Mandera County commissioner Fredrick Shisia, security operatives have learned big lessons following last week's attack where at least six people were brutally killed by suspected Somalia based gunmen.
"Security agents are on high alert and if our big enemy thinks we are asleep, let them dare us again," Shisia warned.
The administrator also appealed for patience from the public even as security personnel pursue the assailants, adding that security agents had already established routes used by the Al-Shabaab fighters as they cross over into the country from Somalia.
Shisia further advised residents to be reporting any suspected terror incident to senior security operatives who will take all the necessary actions to curb impending attacks.
"We urge residents to report any suspicious individuals to the police. If we had any prior information on the attacks, we would have combed and sealed off the area," added the state official.
