They said most of them don’t have NHIF membership cards and it will be difficult to access the free maternity services in various hospitals if the money will be channeled to NHIF

Addressing the media on Thursday at Kisii level six hospital women led by Cecilia Mokeira said health sector was fully devolved to county government and there is a need for maternity money to be under county government and not under NHIF.

“If the money will be channeled to NHIF it means most of us can’t access the free maternity services in hospital but to pay for the services because most of us don’t have NHIF membership cards,” said Cecilia Mokeira

“We appeal to our government to stop diverting the money to NHIF let the money be sent to county government directly from treasury to show transparency and accountability to us so that the county can pay for us they way it has been before,” said Beatrice Nyarero.
