Speaking in Nakuru on Saturday when she led a cleanup exercise in Rhonda, in the outskirts of Nakuru town, Modesta Temba from the Association of Sisters of Kenya said environment should be taken serioiusly.

According to sister Modesta, who also comes from the family of 'Daughters of Jesus the good Shepherd', lack of a clean environment leads to numerous conflicts.

"The government should ensure matters of environment are taken care of to avoid conflicts, and I appeal to the county governments to work closely with other environmental partners in conservation," said Modesta.

Her sentiments were echoed by Ronald Sanros from Interdenominational Peace council.

The cleanup exercise also involved ROCBO multipurpose Cooperative Society from Rhonda Nakuru, a group that deals with environmental conservation.

The exercise also brought together youths from St.Josephs, St.Daniel Hekima and Holy cross catholic parishes in Nakuru.

The climax of the exercise was planting of trees at Rhonda Full Gospel church.
