The government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has denied tabloid reports that it has been begging foreign countries to congratulate President Uhuru Kenyatta following his Supreme Court victory.
A UK newspaper had reported that Kenyan envoys had requested the host country to send President Kenyatta a congratulatory message.
The ministry's PS Monica Juma is said to have held closed-door meetings with foreign diplomats in the country.
Some have intimated that the matter might have been part of the agenda discussed.
''We do not go soliciting for congratulatory messages.'' Ms. Juma said when pressed on the issue.
Kenyans on social media have been commenting and posting on the issue following a story by the UK's Telegraph newspaper that claimed Kenya was soliciting a congratulatory message from the UK.
President Uhuru is expected to be sworn in next Tuesday after a Supreme Court ruling validated hois re-election.
