The Ministry of Health on Friday dispelled fears of any reported case of Ebola outbreak in Kenya. This confirmation report is as a result of an Ebola outbreak alarm in by the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) On Tuesday, 8th May 2018.

Ebola has been a threat in the Democratic Republic of Congo in the recent years. The disease which spreads first emanates from wild meet such as monkeys which are a common delicacy in the DRC. 

According to the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Health Dr. Cecily Kariuki, in a joint statement with the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Tourism Najib Balala, there has not been reported any case of the killer disease among traveling coming to Kenya from the DRC. 

“In order to mitigate the threat, the Ministry of Health has established the National Health Emergencies Council, whose role is, among others, to act expeditiously to prevent importation of Ebola virus disease or any other diseases of Public Health importance into Kenya,” said CS Kariuki. 

Tourism & Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala assured Kenyans that his ministry is keeping a wary eye on the airport terminals and border entries to ensure that every foreigner visiting the country is free of the virus and other diseases. 

“The Government wishes to assure Kenyans and all travelers to Kenya that there is no Ebola case reported in the country and that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure that the Ebola virus is not introduced or imported to our Country,” said CS Balala.
