Siaya Senator James Orengo and businessman Jimi Wanjigi have finally been allowed to leave for Zimbabwe after being blocked at the airport on Monday.
The two who were on their way to Zimbabwe on Monday night to attend the burial of Morgan Tsvangirai were blocked from leaving the country and their passports confiscated.
The NASA leaders, however, noted that they had acquired court orders barring the government from confiscating their travel documents but this did not save the situation.
Orengo and Wanjigi spent the night at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) persuading the authorities to return their documents but that was not successful.
On Tuesday morning, the department of immigration explained that it had not been served with court orders barring it from withholding their passports.
Maj Gen (Rtd) Gordon Kihalangwa, who heads the immigration department explained that the two leaders had not produced any orders adding that once the court's directive was produced the leaders will be allowed to travel.
"When the two arrived at the airport, they were requested to avail copies of the said court orders but they had none. The two, Hon James Orengo and Mr Jimi Wanjigi, will be allowed to travel once such orders are served to the department," Kihalangwa was quoted by The Nation.
It is not clear whether the department has secured the orders but immigration officials have finally given the two their passports and they are expected to depart at 1:45pm.
