Kisii county Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has called upon the agitated traders to calm down and wait for the government to take appropriate action against the police officers who were involved in the shooting of two ladies at Daraja Mbili on Market on 6th October 2016.
According to Maangi currently the officers have been arrested and they are being interrogated so that the government can give the way forward on the matter and he is sure that will happen in less than a week’s time.
Speaking on Monday evening while addressing the aggrieved business people from Daraja Mbili market who presented their grievances to the county government Maangi said that he had already visited the two families affected and he had pledged that the county government will give their full support to the families.
“I want to assure you that actions will be taken and I am sure that won’t happen again and so far we are ensuring the national government compensates the family of the two women and we as the county government we have already pledged what we will give,” he added.
This comes barely after two business women lost their lives when there was a shootout between the police and the boda-boda riders at Daraja Mbili market on 6th October 2016.
