Following the recent cholera outbreak the Government has come forward and identified the four areas in the country with high cases of cholera.

According to Julias Korir who is the Health Principal Secretary Garissa, Machakos, Nairobi, and Kisumu have been identified as hotspots for cholera.

He further stated that the government and the counties affected are working together to fight the outbreak.

"In Nairobi six treatment centres have been opened at Mukuru Kwa Njega, Mukuru Kwa Reuben and Huruma," he said as reported by the Daily Nation.

Mr Korir also mentioned that the national government has received help from the World Health Organization (WHO) to help in the fight against cholera.

According to the PS the outbreak initially started in April and there have been 120 reported cases of the disease.

Nairobi was the county with the highest reports of the infection however with the steps taken by the government it has begun to reduce.

Poor sanitation is believed to be behind the spread of the disease.
