Education Principal Secretary Dr. Dinah Mwinzi has reaffirmed that the government has put in place measures to finding a lasting solution to bridging the unemployment gap among the youth.
Mwinzi, who is also in charge of Vocational and Technical Training, made the remarks in Nairobi during the launch of this year’s AfricaTech Challenge (ATC) Season Four in Nairobi on Tuesday.
The first three challenges have seen winners awarded scholarships as well as prize money.
The Ministry, she said had expanded opportunities in Technical and Vocational Education Training by 40, 000 during the past.
It is in this light that she said that the move was aimed at reducing the unemployment rate in the country which currently stands at 40 per cent.
To foster this initiative, Mwinzi said Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration will be keen at expanding the participation of young people in national development adding that 30 per cent of all appointments, projects, and budgets had been tailored to specifically target them.
