NASA leader Raila Odinga has claimed that government mercenaries intimidated Supreme Court judges not to hear a case challenging the October 26 repeat poll.

Raila said that attacks on Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu's driver on the eve of the case was meant to scare judges of the apex court.

While speaking at the Center For Strategic International Studies in the US,  the opposition leader said had the court had a quorum,  the poll would have been cancelled.

"On the eve of the case,  a bodyguard attached to the Deputy Chief Justice was attacked and seriously wounded," Raila said.

He added: "This was meant to scare the other judges and they could not make their way to the court the following day."
