Kenya Airport Police Unit commandant Philip Ndolo becomes the first causality to the chaotic return and subsequent deportation of controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna.
The seasoned police officer was summoned to police headquarters on Friday and instructed to handover to Nyamira County police commander Titus Ndung'u, reports the Standard.
Police sources say, Ndolo is accused of mishandling of operations at the JKIA that saw heavily armed GSU officers frogmarch Miguna.
"He is accused of many issues including calling GSU to take over such operation, harassing of journalists ," said an official aware of the operation.
Yet again, another source says the release of GSU personnel was not properly done and investigations have been launched.
"That is an international airport . Journalists were doing their job yet they were harassed," said the source.
So compelling was the matter that IG Joseph Boinet and Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i were convicted of contempt of court orders and slapped with Sh200,000 fine.
With Miguna still condemned at Dubai Airport, Ndolo is also accused of detaining him in a toilet at JKIA instead of a police holding cell.
