The government has launched investigations to determine the cause of two police helicopter crashes in August and September this year.

Through a Gazette notice , Transport Cabinet secretary has appointed Director and Chief Investigator of Aircraft Accidents Martn Lunani to lead the inquiry.

Both crashes left six police officers injured.

The team is tasked with establishing the circumstances both antecedent and proximate , surrounding the accidents and the contributory and mitigating factors that occurred both before and after the accidents.

The team is also expected to determine the extent of damage in regards to costs and loss of two helicopters and the extent of compliance with technical as well as operational standards and procedures.

Other members appointed in the team include Lieutenant Colonel Charles Mutai, Retired Captain Wilfred Ngumo, Humphrey Bulimo and Kennedy Ogol.
