The Ministry of Public Services, Youth and Gender Affairs has rolled out gender based violence training in hot spot areas across the 47 counties to help create awareness about the vice that is seemingly rising.
Principal Secretary for Gender Affairs, Zeinab Hussein during the launch of the initiative said that the exercise would contribute to family protection and the elimination of Gender Based Violence.
“This educational training is a public campaign that entails engagement with specific community actors in the counties with have high prevalence of GBV. Our strong message is that violence is unacceptable and calls for more action,” she said.
Among the counties considered as hot spot areas for gender-based violence and have been earmarked in phase one of the campaign include Garissa, Nyamira, Marsabit, Mombasa, Kilifi, Migori, UasinGishu and Kiambu counties.
Among others sensitization issues, this initiative is expected to offer a platform for sharing pertinent information on various forms of GBV, sensitize the stakeholders on existing legal and policy frameworks and discuss their contributions towards implementation of the same frameworks.
