The Director of Liason office of the senior adviser at Senate house Patrick Ngatia said that the government has noted with concern past issues raised by private schools owners in regard to secondary school admissions.

Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony at Lerwa Centre for Excellence in Nakuru on Sunday, the officer said the government is committed to ensure equality and fairness in the admission process.

“While the government makes efforts to improve the quality of education, private schools should not be overlooked as they play a major role offering learning opportunities,” said Ngatia.

He further added that although education is not a fully devolved function, there was need to ensure that county governments offer a conducive working environment for private schools.

He said that incentives could be in the form reduced licence fees.
