Two chiefs have sustained serious injuries after being beaten by cattle rustlers in Laikipia County.
The two chiefs of Orus Location, Chief Josephine Lopuo and her assistant Daniel Ngeleyo had gone in the company of elders to persuade the bandits to return the cattle but where severely beaten by the bandits.
The two were seriously beaten in Makany Sub location, Rumuruti Laikipia County .
They were rescued by locals who rushed them to Tangulbei health Centre where they are repatriating.
The chief in the company of elders where pursuing 45 animals that had been stolen last week by the suspected rustlers.
Tiaty Deputy County Commissioner Reuben Ratemo confirmed the incident saying the bandits where responsible for the incident.
He noted that police are in pursuit of the cattle rustlers.
“The cattle rustlers are the ones responsible for the incident and we are going to follow up on the matter. We have dispatched police in pursuit of the suspects,” Noted The DCC .
