Masinga Sub-County Commissioner Mr Ben Gachichio has ordered that all illegal private developments at the area headquarters be demolished immediately.
He said that three permanent buildings illegally constructed should be brought down within two weeks and the plots be repossessed by the government. He said his office has obtained a go ahead from the court to demolish the buildings.
Gachichio who was chairing the Masinga Sub-county Physical Planning Liaison Committee in his area on Thursday said that it was the government policy to repossess all illegally acquired public land in accordance with the law.
The DCC expressed concern that some private developers had continued to illegally construct commercial buildings at night at the district headquarters.
He instructed the National Environmental management Authority (Nema) and National Construction Authority (NCA) to halt those constructions, as they were not approved.
He also cautioned county government officers to ensure that no unapproved building came up in the area behind his back. He said he will be more vigilant from now and would be working closely with the NCA to ensure no one goes contrary to the law.
Gachichio urged the private developers who were capitalising on Masinga to ensure that Nema approved all their constructions as they risked being demolished if they failed to comply with the requirement.
The NCA is set to tour the area on Monday to check on a number of construction sites before approving them.
