After 100 days of staying away from work, doctors have had contend with the realization that the government outfoxed them in the return to work formula (RTWF) agreement that was signed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union officials, ministry of health officials and representatives of the council of governors.

The government once again carried the day as they employed every tactic to delay conclusion of the negotiations so as to have public opinion turn against the doctors. They have also vowed to pay any arrears of salary for days not worked.

In the doctor’s defense, they were organized and relentless in their efforts to have the collective bargaining agreement implemented.

The government has always been the winner in all instances of industrial strike as they hold the most crucial pieces which are time and money.

This is majorly because it is an independent entity and as such can drag a case for decades on end.

The government should extend a hand of good faith and pay the doctors for the 100 days not worked or it can pay half salaries for the 3 months arrears.
