President Uhuru Kenyatta has said the national government has a plan to tarmac another 200km of roads in both Kisii and Nyamira counties to elevate the economy of Gusii  region.

According to Kenyatta construction of roads in Gusiiland will yield much since the region is one of the productive areas in the country.

Speaking on Monday night during an interview on a local radio station Egesa Fm, Kenyatta hailed Kisii community for the reception when they visited the region and promised to come back to launch another 200km of roads to be tarmacked.

“As the government we need to elevate the economy across the country and we will construct another 200 km of road in Gusii region because when we visited there we saw many of roads were in a paretic condition,” said Kenyatta.

President Kenyatta pledged to give Ogembo hospital Sh300 million to expand the hospital.

“Even if the health function is under the county my government will continue to help where necessary,” added Kenyatta.
