[Photo/File]Following the recent cases of the cholera outbreak that has attacked several people since May, the Ministry of Health has formed a national task force to handle cholera cases in order to contain the infectious disease.Last week, Henry Rotich the Treasury Secretary was hospitalised after attending a public function at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) which indicates that cholera cases are being spotted even in high-end facilities. So far, 336 cases with cholera-related signs have been confirmed while 3 deaths have been confirmed since the month of May in Nairobi."The Constitution of the task force is multi-sectoral and its main task is to respond to the ongoing cholera transmission, so as to kick the disease out of the country and put the situation under control," said Jackson Kioko the Director of Medical Services.Kioko said that the incident at KICC was under investigation being that samples of food, water and sewer had been collected from the caterers to be examined at the National Public Health Laboratory.
