Cabinet Secretary for ICT Joe Mucheru has said the government is ready for the countrywide roll-out of the laptop programme to schools.
The CS said the government is making all efforts to go to a digital country that will ensure all Kenyans work together in the globalised environment.
“As of two weeks ago the first shipment of machines that were tendered for have already landed in the country and we will be distributing them come September,” he said.
Mucheru added that they will be taking many more laptops into the counties, constituencies and even ward levels.
The CS was speaking on Friday during the 10th anniversary celebration of the Mango Tree, an NGO that supports orphans in Mawewo, Rachuonyo North Sub County.
He also encouraged citizens to take advantage of opportunities the government is providing in ICT, saying the government is making sure community radio and television are going to be easily available even in local languages.
