Nyamira County Commissioner Ms Josephine Onunga has assured residents of Kebirigo that security has been beefed up following incidents of night gang raids in homes and attacks on residents.
She called on the residents to cooperate with security agencies in arresting the gangs terrorizing them saying they were operating in a network within neighbouring urban centres.
“It has come to our attention that the gangs are taking advantage of the ongoing El Nino rains pounding at night to carry out the attacks, but their days are numbered,” she warned.
Speaking at Kebirigo on Thursday, the county commissioner said stringent security measures have been put in place to ensure peace prevailed during the coming Christmas festivities and thereafter.
“We won’t tolerate any kind of gangs in Nyamira County and those who are planning to carry out any attack should be warned,” she added.
She said police in the county are on alert to ensure that they overcome any person who is committing crime.
This comes after residents complained of night attacks from unknown group of people especially in the night.
