The national government through the Water Services Trust Fund has allocated Sh18.8 million for water development at Ekalakala in Masinga sub-county.
The money was given to the Matuu Water Company which will be responsible for setting up a water distribution centre that will be pump water to Matuu and Ekalakala.
The distribution centre will be constructed at Yatta canal which flows through Matuu with its source in Thika.
Addressing a press conference in Masinga on Wednesday, Masinga MP Benson Mbai said the government aims at supplying water to every home in Masinga sub county.
"The Sh18.8 million is already available and this is only money to start up the project," Mbai said.
"The whole project will cost approximately Sh25 million Kenya shillings."
He explained that the project will be implemented in phases.
