President Uhuru Kenyatta’s chief of staff Joseph Kinyua has said that the government will release Sh7.4 billion to take care of areas affected by the ongoing drought.
About 3 million people have been affected by the drought.
The government expects to get more funds from the European Union and the United Nations to mitigate the crisis.
“Support from our partners would complement Governments efforts in mitigating the effects of drought,” said President Uhuru Kenyatta last week.
The government has already declared the drought a national disaster.
23 counties have been seriously affected.
