Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu on Friday ordered investigations to be carried out over alleged rape at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

Mailu stepped into the KNH saga after several Kenyans had expressed their concerns on social media about the on-going incidence of women being raped especially when they try to access the New-born Unit area at night.

Angry Kenyans also cited theft and other security issues to mothers who go to breastfeed their kids at Nursery section on 1st floor.

Following the reports, Mailu ordered the KNH management and security agents to provide detailed report on claimed issue by Monday, 22nd January.

According to the Ministry of Health, the CS expressed his regrets if the alleged actions transpired and instructed security agents at the top health institution to increase security to patients and their relatives.

“The CS has further ordered investigations into the matter; the KNH management and security agents will provide a report on the issue by Monday 22nd January 2018. The CS regrets if the alleged actions are true and has instructed KNH management to beef up security measures to protect patients and their relatives,” read the tweet from Ministry of Health.
