The Kenyan government has finally responded to claims that it offered asylum to a close Mugabe ally, Mr. Jonathan Moyo, who is rumoured to have been part of Mugabe's closely-knit inner circle. The Kenyan government's official spokesperson has refuted claims that Mr. Moyo is in the country as some media reports had suggested.''I would have known if Mr. Moyo was in the country. Political asylum is a security issue and his request would have been processed by the National Security Advisory Council,'' Mr. Kiraithe told a Sunday Nation journalist. There has been a lot of speculation that the former Minister for Higher Education was hiding in the country.
