The government is set to roll out the new curriculum in a pilot programme that will be implemented in both private and public schools.
Parliamentary Education Committee chair Sabina Chege has said the new curriculum will improve the quality of education in the country and boost professionalism in the workforce.She asked stakeholders to embrace and support its implementation that has started in selected schools in the country.Three schools per county, she said, have been selected in the pilot programme that will later be extended to the rest of the schools.“We are hoping that the whole education sector will have changed into the new education system by the year 2021,” Chege said.She said the new system will help address many challenges that are being faced in the sector now.“The new syllabus will focus more on enhancing students’ skills, giving students an opportunity to explore their talents,” she added.
