The National Government and County Government of Mombasa in collaboration with The World Bank are set to commence  construction of a water supply project in Shika Adabu ward, Timbwani ward, Mtongwe ward, Bofu ward and Likoni ward. The project is set to begin on 25th March 2018 and is expected to be completed in 18 months.

Thi is according to a letter circulated to the public by the County Government of Mombasa, which read, “The Government of Kenya (G.o.K) and the County Government of Mombasa (C.G.M) through Suhufi Agencies Limited as the contractor are implementing a water pipeline project within Likoni constituency aimed at improving water supply distribution services in Mombasa County. The project covers Shika Adabu ward, Timbwani ward, Mtongwe ward, Bofu ward and Likoni ward. The implementation period for the project is 18 months starting from 25th March 2018.”

“As a result we expect dust emission, noise from heavy machinery and occasional traffic during excavation works”, the letter further stated.

This will be a boast and a lasting solution to the occasional water shortness affecting the residents of Likoni constituency. 

This news was well received by Likoni residents with joy as they expressed optimism in the commitment of the County and National Governments to solve their water problems.
