According to a statement from the interior ministry, the national registration bureau has nothing to do with registration of persons.

“We wish to make it unequivocally clear that the national registration bureau, which is a department under the ministry of interior and coordination of national government has absolutely nothing to do with registration of voters, and only registers Kenyans with identity cards,” read part of the statement.

Wiper Party is however sticking to its party leader’s position, saying the finding in Wajir is part of a scheme to rig the elections.

“We have been made privy to a scheme, which is what the party leader has fallen into yesterday, and there might be even a million of such cases of these type of voters, that are supposed to fraud the next general elections,” said Wiper’s Hassan Omar.

The leaders also revised the passage of the controversial electoral bill, linking it to the issue at hand.

“The reason the Jubilee administration is trying to adopt a complimentary system that is fully manual is that, if there is now BVR, the young lady, Salome Wanjiru would have voted under the ID number of Kalonzo Musyoka,” added Omar.

However, before even the dust settles on the matter, another anomaly is being alleged, this time by Raila Odinga.

According to Odinga, he shares the same ID number with one lady, Ombai Maria Anyango, a situation he said is now worrying.

Odinga, who toured Nyamira County called on the IEBC team to clean the register, and ensure such anomalies don’t appear before the next elections.
