Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Willy Bett, has announced that the government has given Sh46 million to help improve fish farming.

Bett says the Sh25 million will be allocated to Sori beach in Migori county and the remaining balance will be used to upgrade fish cages in Busia county.

He highlighted how Lake Victoria has seen a decrease in the number of fish stocks in recent years and that there is a need to promote fish farming on beaches.

The Government of Kenya has also included patrol boats in Lake Turkana and Lake Victoria to safeguard against illegal fishing.
