Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery gazetted a notice on Wednesday, stating the curfew would run from 6:30pm to 6:30am.

The CS said the curfew will apply to Mandera town, Fino, Lafey Kotulo, Elwak, Arabia and Omar Jillo.

He said it would also extend 20 kilometres towards the Kenya-Somalia border.

Nkaissery said residents will remain indoors except under special circumstances as directed by deputy county commissioners.

During the dawn attack, suspected Al Shabaab militants threw grenades into Bishaare hotel killing 12 people and injuring six others before KDF officers arrived.

Governor Ali Roba said he could not request additional security personnel as they are afraid of carrying out patrols.
