Nyamira County Isaiah Nakoru on Sunday issued the directive that local government officials should be vigilant to ensure all children are going to school.
He regretted that some parents in the county have not taken their children to school.
“Nyumba Kumi officials in deep villages should report children who have not reported to school to chiefs and assistant chiefs. The government offers free day primary and secondary education, there is no reason why parents will fail to take their children for enrollment,” he said.
The commissioner noted that each child has a right to education and anyone violating the rights of children will be arrested and prosecuted.
“Schools reopened 3 weeks ago, we expect to see no child loitering around during school time,” Nakoru said.
