Speaking during a tour of the facility, Baringo County Woman Representative Grace Kiptui said the tour has furnished the committee with vital details about inmates stay behind bars and will ensure their issues are addressed.

“We came here (Naivasha Prison) following a petition written to us by some of the inmates wanting the power of mercy to be looked into, among other issues,” she said.

Kiptui said they received grievances from inmates about the misuse of the Sexual Offences Act and will ensure MPs address the issue. “They claimed it has become a tool of oppression and we shall definitely be looking at it,” Kiptui said.
