This comes after Deputy President William Ruto said the government has plans to help the cooperative society clear its debts and outstanding land rates in order to continue with its operations.

During his visit at the society’s Changamwe centre on Friday, Ruto said the government has already cleared land rates arrears amounting to Sh320, 000, that have been causing panic among the members of the cooperative society for sometime now.

The DP said he had discussed the affairs of the cooperative society with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), in a bid to help them end their problems once and for all.

“I have also talked to KRA commissioner general regarding the over Sh3.1 million you owe them and I believe they will advise on how much will be paid,” he said, as quoted by Daily Nation.

Ruto also revealed that the government has offered to help them in the renovation of the society’s showroom to boost their operations in the near future, adding that the National Youth Service and the society’s architectures have been approached to undertake the renovation in order to reduce costs.

“Within the next two months, this facility will have a standard facelift that is modern and classic to attract tourists,” he said.
