The National Government will cater for health services of at least 2000 less fortunate people in every county.
This has been confirmed by the Director of Medical Services, Nicholas Muraguri has said.
A statement from State House, Nairobi indicates that the Health PS made the announcement on Tuesday when the First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta toured St. Joseph’s The Worker Health Centre, Kangemi where she pointed out that the services would be enabled through the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) as from this financial year.
“Approximately 2 million people become poor annually due to sickness and we can no longer continue offering help through fundraising. What is required is for everyone to try their best and save Sh500 monthly to be registered with NHIF,” said Muraguri.
However, at the same time, Muraguri challenged all Kenyans to register with NHIF.
