The national government through the ministry of water and irrigation is set to build dam in Nyamira County, this according to Eugene Wamalwa, CS in charge of Water and Irrigation.
"The government is set to construct a dam in Nyamira County by the end of this year in order to ensure our people have enough water that will help them do farming without fear of drought," said Wamalwa, who was speaking at Kioge SDA on Saturday during a funds drive aid for the church.
The Nyamira County has no government dam, although individuals own them which they use for fish farming.
Wamalwa termed farming as 'the backbone' of the country, and will ensure the dam is set up to help the locals.
"My good people harvest and store water for use during dry seasons, you are privileged to be here where you have rains every time, please make use it, by harvesting and storing it, you will do irrigation and farming smoothly," he added.
The CS was accompanied by Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and many Kisii County leaders attended.
