Speaking on Friday in Uasin Gishu when he inspected milk cooling plants being set up by the county government, Bett said the move was aimed at easing logistical operations involved during fertilizer delivery to farmers.

"The national government has established mechanisms whereby farmers will be receiving subsidised fertilizer directly from cooperatives instead of collecting it from the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB)," Bett said.

"We seek to stop middlemen and cartels from buying this subsidised fertilizer from the board and later selling it off to farmers at a higher price," he added.
