Speaking during the 7th session of the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council meeting, Ruto said that the delay in the release of the funds was hampering development in the counties.

"We want to ensure that funds for the counties are disbursed by the 15th of every month to avoid unnecessary delays that are hindering development in the counties," he said.

Ruto said that a central account has been established to ensure that the funds are disbursed with ease.

"A new central account has been established to ensure prudent disbursement of county funds," he added.

The delay in the release of funds to the counties has been causing disharmony between the county governments and the national government.
