The distribution of laptops to all 23, 000 public primary schools is set to be finalized by the end of the year.
Principal Secretary for Livestock, Dr Andrew Tuimur, has said that the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) is aimed at making Kenya a knowledge-based economy.
The PS spoke at Majiwa Primary School in Bondo sub-county during the launch of the DLP program for Siaya County.
According to Tuimur, each school will receive a number of tablets in correspondence with the number of standard one pupils.
He further pointed out the tablets are installed with standard one content and the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) will introduce other content that will be used by the students as they go along.
He also revealed that children with special needs will also be catered for in the program.
