The national government will give Mumias Sugar Company Sh3 billion to ensure its workers and farmers are paid promptly.
Deputy President William Ruto said through his Facebook page that the government's plan to revive the sugar factory was on course.
“The government's plan to revive the factory is on course. The board is working on a Rights Issue which is expected to inject about Sh3 billion to the company. This will ensure farmers and workers are paid promptly,” Ruto said.
The DP visited the plant on Saturday and also addressed the farmers in Mumias town.
“Already the restructuring started last year is bearing fruit. The company is crushing more cane and farmers pay is prompt,” he said
