Plans are underway to construct houses for prison officers across the country, Correctional Services Permanent Secretary Micah Powon has confirmed.
According to Powon, the move is aimed improving lives of prison warders.
Powon was speaking during the New Year’s lunch with inmates and the officers at Kapenguria Prisons.
He acknowledged that prison wardens across the country are living under deplorable conditions something that hinders them from delivering services.
He further urged Kenyans to devise other alternative ways of solving disputes in order to avoid over crowding prisons.
