The national government will partner with all churches to spread peace messages and ensure peaceful coexistence amongst all Kenyans.
Deputy President William Ruto said this will help combat tribalism and hatred among Kenyans which was witnessed during the just concluded hotly contested presidential elections.
"Our aim as a government is to ensure that we have a united and peaceful country where Kenyans will concentrate on development and not name-calling," said the deputy president during the opening of the Anglican Church of Kenya diocese of Eldoret in Kipkaren, Saturday.
"The church has also a role to play in ensuring there is peace as we are trying to bring Kenyans together, the church should also help us. We will partner with the religious institution in dealing with hatred, tribalism, and division so that we can unite in building the nation," he added.
The DP also applauded President Uhuru Kenyatta and the NASA leader Raila Odinga for accepting to work together.
"This will bring Kenyans together and will now live as brothers and sisters regardless of their political and tribal cocoons," he noted.
