The government has promised to source for new tea markets in an aim of improving the income of tea farmers in Kisii county.
According to the Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Willy Betty in the last one year, they have been partnering with many countries and tea has been the key talk as it is available in plenty and they look forward to ensuring that they export in large numbers.
Speaking at Riamacharia area in Birongo ward on Sunday the CS said that many farmers from the area were getting less income from their tea due to the deadlock market though he asked them to be calm as they will be earning more from January 2017.
“All I can assure the tea farmers from this area is that from January you will be getting more income from your produce as we have found new markets for you and we are still looking for other new ones,” he added.
The CS though asked the area residents to use the modern farming methods to ensure that they get more income.
