The National Government through the Ministry of Education (MOE) willspend sh1 billion to put up state of art center of excellence in automotive and mechatronics in Technical and Vocational Training Institutes (TVET) across the country.

Vocational and Training permanent secretary, Dr. Dinah Mwinzi, said this will improve the country's technical skills development.

"This is clear indicator of the ministry's vision to enhance skill development of our youths based on competence training and make them job creators and not seekers," she said in Eldoret town, Friday.

"The government has also completed the construction of 60 technical colleges and an additional 70 colleges which are set to be completed by next year," she added.

She reiterated that this was the government's plan of ensuring that each constituency has at least one technical and vocational college.

"We are expecting to construct 1,540 village training centers and 47 national polytechnics by 2022," she noted.
