The Ministry of Sports, Art and Culture has committed funds towards the continental engagements Gor Mahia and AFC leopards .According to Goal.com the ministry has committed sh10m for each of the two Kenyan Giants to so as honour CAF matches. The government was forced to come in handy after the major sponsors Sportpesa, untimely withdrew it's sponsorship for the two football clubs in protest of 35% gambling tax.The two clubs had earlier threatened to pull out of the continental matches if they would not get a sponsor in time.“We have no sponsors right now. We are going to withdraw from CAF assignments. We are urging other like-minded corporates to emulate SportPesa and support community clubs in Kenya. I don’t know how we will pay the 10 international players we have signed ahead of the season,” AFC leopards chairman Dan Mule said said.Gor Mahia had already affirmed it's withdrawal through its chairman, Ambrose Rachier.“A one-way air ticket is costing Sh3.5m, accommodation, Sh3m and we will need Sh10m for one match, to and from and we cannot sustain that budget,” Rachier Said.
