The Jubilee administration has moved to assure Kenyans that there will be no more interruption of supply of the famous Sh90 maize flour.

According to the ministry of Agriculture, there will be a constant supply of the sought after commodity in the recent past.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett said the government had already received 1.2 million bags of maize and expects another 3.2 million bags to fully address the shortage.

“We are going to engage the services of Standard Gauge Railway, RVR and the normal transport system to ensure the maize moves on time from the port to millers,” he said.

He also insisted that the commodity will be available in all areas, with Kenyans from rural areas complaining of missing out on the commodity.

This comes a day after NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga accused the government of ‘bribing voters’ by deliberately hiding the supply in order to create a shortage.

The maize flour shortage has been a painful experience for Kenyans, with many flocking different outlets to be met by empty shelves.

President Kenyatta on the other hand has in his campaign rallies has promised to ensure he cushions Kenyans against the hard economic times.
