The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Chepkoilel secretary general Sammy Bor said the programme has not started in primary schools."We want to urge the acting Cabinet Secretary for Education Fred Matiang'i to ensure that the implementation of the new curriculum is successful by ensuring teaching and learning materials are availed to respective schools on time," he said in Eldoret town, Thursday."We don't see the government's commitment and that's why we were against its implementation. How do they expect teachers to teach with no syllabus and teaching guide? I think the government is not ready and if nothing is done our children will get a raw deal," he added He asked the government to deploy more teachers to schools for students to get quality education."Uasin Gishu has a serious shortage of teachers. The ratio of teachers to students is 1:60 which is double the required ratio of 1:30," noted Bor.
